Sedona Library and Used Book Store
The Sedona Public Library is the heart of the community where people gather, friendships are forged, lives are enriched and ideas are cultivated.
Whether you would like to browse for books, bring your child to storytime, or enjoy the 18,500-square-foot courtyard in the warmer months, the Sedona Public Library is the place to be.
The Sedona Public Library was established in 1958 by the “Friends of the Library” in a donated space that consisted of three shelves of donated books and magazines. They have come a long way since then. In 2022, renovations at the West Sedona location include 10,000 square feet of pavement for concerts, events, and of course, reading.
The patio has a fire pit, a strong Wi-Fi signal and ample seating with shade. With this expansion, indoor programming will have the option for outdoor components, especially for events like Entomology for Kids or the Sedona Car Club.
Inside the West Sedona library, updates are going on for more seating, charging stations and state-of-the-art technology in the community rooms.
The Sedona Library is dedicated to providing access to information, education and cultural enrichment for everyone in the community. From children's storytime to adult book clubs and educational workshops, movie nights, writing workshops, chess clubs, teen programs and sewing guilds, the library offers a range of programs and services designed to meet the needs of all members of the community.
Outside, near the entrance to the library, the Sedona Miller Schnebly statue stands proud. This was Sedona's first Art in Public Places project.
The monument was commissioned and donated to the city of Sedona by the Red Rock Arts Council in August 1994. Local artist Susan Kliewer was chosen to create the sculpture following a competition in which eight entries were juried by the Red Rock Arts Council and the public. The unveiling of the monument was part of the dedication ceremony of Sedona Public Library, held on October 1, 1994.
Adjacent to the library is a hidden gem. A used bookstore that is perfect for the bibliophile. Great prices and great finds. A must to explore!
