Mescal Trail | Visit Sedona

Mescal Trail

This intermediate trail begins off of Long Canyon Road with an initial climb that transitions to a rolling trail. At the top, the trail heads toward Mescal Mountain, a large sandstone butte. The trail continues onto a section of slickrock that some may have to dismount to traverse. This trail offers optional splits for those who may be uncomfortable with narrow ledges.

Distance: 2.6 miles

Tip: As the trail rounds the butte on the western end, take in amazing views of Boynton Canyon. Enjoy the scenery before a quick descent to the trail’s end.

Driving Directions: From the Visitor Center, 331 Forest Road, turn right on SR 89A for 3.2 miles; right on Dry Creek Rd for 3.0 miles; right on Long Canyon Rd for 0.3 miles to park. The trail starts on the left side of the road.

Amenities: Take the Sedona Shuttle for easy access and parking to this trailhead. Visit SedonaShuttle.com for more information, schedule, and days of operation.
