Red Rock History Tours

Red Rock was the name long before anyone heard the name Sedona. Tour in a small luxury coach while native Sedonan, Paul Thompson, takes you to the Chavez place, Dumas Ranch, Schuerman family cemetery and homestead house, the Armijo homestead house (on the National Register of Historic Places), ruins of the first school (1891), site of an early Oak Creek vineyard and other sites. Tours are from 9 a.m.-noon. $50 for Sedona Historical Society/Museum members, $55 for non-members.

Daily Guided Nature Walk

Every morning a volunteer naturalist leads a guided nature walk informing visitors about the different life zones of Red Rock State Park and sharing their knowledge of geology, wildlife, park history, archaeology, and plant life. The naturalists welcome questions during the walk. Hikes are included with park entrance fees. No reservations required.

Sedona Arts Center September Gallery Exhibition

The September Exhibition starts off with our First Friday Reception, Sept 2nd, 5-7pm at Sedona Arts Center Gallery. The five featured artists for the Arts Center’s September exhibition have created work that is festive, vibrant, fun and evokes the freedom of a creative journey. Gallery goers will find works in watercolor, encaustics, pastels, metals,and more. The show can be seen daily thereafter until Oct 4th, 10am-5pm, Monday-Friday.

New York Film Critics Series: ‘Silver Skies’

The Sedona International Film Festival is the official, exclusive Northern Arizona home for the New York Film Critics monthly series debuting new films weeks prior to their theatrical release. The series is hosted by Rolling Stone Magazine’s Peter Travers, via satellite, and features a Q&A with the filmmaker and stars from the film each month. The September premiere event will feature the debut of “Silver Skies” for two shows, one night only on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 4 and 7 p.m.
