Girdner Trail
This is a moderately trafficked, intermediate, out-and-back trail that has been rerouted to eliminate creek crossings.
Distance: 4.5 miles from Girdner Trailhead to Snake Trail. Return the same way or:
1: Continue on the Snake Trail 1.0 miles to the AZ Cypress Trail and 1.1 miles to the Girdner Trail for a 10.7-mile loop
2: Turn left on the Anaconda Trail for 1.7 miles to the AZ Cypress Trail then 0.7 miles to the Girdner Trail for an 11-mile loop.
Tip: The trail stays up higher, giving great views of the red rocks all around. This is a multi-use trail, in which you will find hikers, trail runners and equestrians, so exercise caution.
Driving Directions: From the Visitor Center, 331 Forest Road, turn right on SR 89A for 4.2 miles; turn right at Cultural Park Place and follow the road straight back 0.1 miles to the trailhead on the right.
