Surprise Party! with Carson Ling-Efird, Cello
Date:
Sunday, January 31 2027
This concert begins with something truly special: a side-by-side performance featuring the Sedona Youth Orchestra alongside professional Symphony musicians. It’s a joyful celebration of mentorship, music-making, and the next generation of artists.
The spotlight then turns to extraordinary young cellist Carson Ling-Efird in Boccherini’s elegant and energetic cello concerto.
The second half is pure delight, featuring Haydn’s famous “Surprise” Symphony—complete with one of classical music’s greatest musical jump scares—plus a lively overture by Johann Christian Bach, one of Mozart’s earliest inspirations.
Seattle-born cellist Carson Ling-Efird made her solo debut with the Seattle Symphony at the age of 12, followed by an international debut with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra Youth in 2020—all while still in high school.
She is currently pursuing her studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
