Founded in 1987, the Orion String Quartet is renowned for its diverse repertoire of classic quartet works alongside more recent masterpieces. The ensemble consists of violinists (and brothers) Daniel and Todd Phillips, violist Steven Tenenbom, and cellist Timothy Eddy. The quartet’s name was chosen in honor of the famous constellation and was intended to represent the unique qualities and talents that each member contributes to the group. Endowing their performances with a fresh perspective and cutting-edge programming, the Orions currently hold distinguished positions as Artist Members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Quartet-in-Residence at New York's Mannes School of Music. They have collaborated with several legendary artists, and their performances have been featured on popular shows, including Good Morning America and National Public Radio’s Performance Today.
Joining the Orions will be flutist Tara Helen O’Connor, a two-time Grammy nominee and talented soloist known for her artistic depth and mastery of pieces from every era. She is actively involved in musical education at prestigious conservatories throughout the U.S. and Canada, and regularly partners with famed ensembles for performances at concerts and music festivals.
