4 Ways to Get Your Music Fix in Sedona

Sedona, Arizona may be best known for its canyons and hiking, but this rugged city has a musical side, too.

July 18, 2017 guest blog post from Adam Young.

Whether it’s enjoying world-class classical music at the Red Rocks Music Festival or grabbing a bite while listening to local artists at Sound Bites Grill, Sedona offers a wide range of options for music lovers. Here are four ways to get your fix.

Vibe: Upscale and Uplifting
If you’re a fan of classical and chamber music, head to the Sedona Creative Life Center from September 8-16 for the Red Rocks Music Festival. Performances include everything from dueling piano players to classical jazz to world music. Every day offers new performances by both world-famous artists and lesser-known but still incredible local artists in a relaxed atmosphere. So, if mosh pits and screaming fans aren’t really your thing—but live, local, classical music is—don’t miss the Red Rocks Music Festival.

Vibe: Local and Lively
For a more upbeat experience, head over to the Sound Bites Grill for local rock and lively tunes while you sip on a glass of wine and take in the atmosphere. This little eatery specializes in steaks, fresh fish, and local artists, and has plenty of events every month. Dine looking out on the beautiful natural scenery of Sedona on Sound Bites’ awesome patio while being serenaded by everything from local Elvis tribute bands to Legends of Guitar tribute shows. Looking for a more “folksy” beat? Mooney’s Irish Pub features some of the best local talent and original music in town on Friday and Saturday nights from 8 p.m. to midnight. Head over for some acoustic sets and Irish music.

Vibe: Fun and Family-Friendly
A festival with music in the background, tons of food, vendors, and Sedona’s scenery as the backdrop is another great option for music lovers visiting this corner of Arizona. If you’re looking for something that combines Sedona’s bounty of produce with the outdoors and live entertainment, head to this year’s inaugural Orchard Canyon on Oak Creek Peach Festival. On Sunday, August 6, from 2-5 p.m., guests can enjoy musical guest Mystic Harvest as the headliner while enjoying barbecue, peach-infused cocktails and desserts, and much more at the orchard.

Vibe: Loud and Historic
Maybe you were heading to Sedona for the beautiful canyons and sweeping natural scenery when you found out about your favorite band playing a show nearby. The historic Orpheum Theatre in Flagstaff is just a short drive away, and boasts shows from bands like Gavin DeGraw, Explosions in the Sky, Simple Plan and many more.

Whether you’re heading out to Sedona as a stop for a big show or to take in the local scenery, music, and nightlife, you shouldn’t miss this quaint town in the red-rocked beauty of Arizona. With a great wealth of everything from classical to rock music from local bands and as a stopping point on your way to bigger venues, Sedona deserves a spot on your itinerary next time you head out to the Grand Canyon state.
