SEDONA, Ariz. (March 10, 2017) - The 12th Annual Sedona Marathon Event, took place on February 4, 2017, is proud to have partnered with Red Canyon Water, which funds water projects for Native Americans who lack access to running water. Red Canyon Water was the official on-course hydration sponsor for the Sedona Marathon Event.

Red Canyon Water supports two very worthy charities that provide safe and clean drinking water to Native Americans. Red Canyon Water donates a total of $.12 for every bottle of water sold to the Navajo Water Project and Running Strong for American Indian Youth’s Clean Water Program. To reduce the impact to the environment, Red Canyon Water uses biodegradable bottles that are also recyclable.

Unfortunately, approximately 40% of families on the Navajo Nation lack running water, and the Pine Ridge Reservation is facing similar challenges. Red Canyon Water is helping to fix that by donating six cents per bottle sold to the Navajo Water Project, which funds desperately needed water projects on the Navajo Reservation, and six cents to Running Strong for American Indian Youth, which provides families living on the Pine Ridge Reservation with running water by connecting their homes to existing infrastructure.

“By partnering with the Sedona Marathon Event, Red Canyon Water was able to raise awareness about the lack of safe and clean drinking water on Indian reservations throughout the U.S., and raise funds for the charities through direct donations and the sale of Red Canyon Water”, Co-Owner Red Canyon Water Ryan Smith said.

Through this mutually beneficial partnership, the Sedona Marathon Event will supplied registrants, volunteers, and supporters clean drinking water on-course on race day. Red Canyon Water along with the Sedona Marathon Event donated $750 to both the Navajo Water Project and Running Strong for American Indian Youth.

“We are pleased to partner with Red Canyon Water and their valuable water projects in the Native American community. Clean water is taken for granted, and is not available everywhere. We are happy to be a part of the process, and look forward to many years of working together”, Director of the Sedona Marathon Event Jeffery Frost said.
