Kirtronica was born in 2009, a few years after the disbanding of the tribal-trance-techno group Lost at Last in 2004, of which Jaya Lakshmi was the lead singer and songwriter from its inception until the end.
"I wanted to keep the vision of mantra and sacred prayers with EDM as we had in Lost at Last alive, so I created 'Kirtronica' using Ableton Live. With 'Kirtronica,' the aim is to get people chanting mantras in kirtan style while they were dancing. I used to do that on my own when I danced at raves in the 90s and always wondered, "What if we could dance like this AND chant?"
The first 'Kirtronica' album was born in 2013, with chants to Ganesh, Sita-Ram, Ambe, Radhe, etc. The 2nd, 'Kundalini Kirtronica,' came out in 2015, which has mantras connected to Kundalini Yoga practice and Sikh Dharma. Compositions include various beats, such as house, trance, and chill/downtempo.
