Improv Show: “IMPROVIMAS! Holiday Cheer Gone Weird.”

Date: Friday, December 12 2025

If the holidays have you reaching for the eggnog a little too early, Zenprov Comedy has the perfect remedy: laughter. Their one-night-only, totally improvised holiday comedy spectacular, “IMPROVIMAS! Holiday Cheer Gone Weird,” hits the stage Friday, Dec. 12 at 7:00 PM at the Old Town Center for the Arts in Cottonwood. Tickets available now at www.OldTownCenter.org When Santa Meets Sci-Fi and Elves Get Fired by Amazon… “It’s been a weird year. So let’s embrace the weirdness with open hearts, a belly full of laughs, and a spirit of love,” says Derek Dujardin, director of Zenprov Comedy. “We’ll lampoon everything—from petty family feuds to elves being replaced by Amazon robots. Nothing is sacred. Everything is fair game for funny.” This year’s show sleighs in with brand-new, fast-paced improv games, plus a long-form finale that plays like a Netflix binge gone hilariously rogue. Four “movie directors” will present the opening scenes of holiday films inspired by audience suggestions—think Hallmark rom-coms, Scrooge, Krampus, animated misfit toys, National Lampoon, and more. After the first act, each director makes a case for their film to continue, but only one will get the audience’s “greenlight.” The winning film plays on, while the others get cut—until only the funniest holiday tale survives. For nearly 20 years, Zenprov Comedy has earned its status as a Verde Valley favorite, thanks to its unique mix of humor inspired by Sedona’s vortex-loving locals, radical vegans, lost tourists, and the occasional UFO sighting. Jessica Mitolo, Associate Artistic Director at The Second City, says, “I work with improv troupes from all over the world, and Zenprov is one of my favorites. Since 2020, I’ve enjoyed coaching them through a creative renaissance. They’re a true ensemble—both silly and insightful. A joy and a treat not to be missed.” Zenprov follows the Del Close method of improv, where the “group mind” creates something larger than the sum of its hilarious parts. On stage, the players practically finish each other’s sentences—and often do. Zenprov's ensemble includes: Derek Dujardin, Shaeri Richards, Shaunn Cochran, Chris Redish, Betty Testa, Linda Roemer, Nathaniel Montgomery, Mary Carder, Ryan Rice, and Nick Shank.
