The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to partner with award-winning surround sound composer and producer Koz Mraz for “Elton John in Surround Sound” on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. You will be blown away by this dark room 5.1 Surround Sound Music Experience in Sedona’s best sound system, the Mary D. Fisher Theater — the kick-off to Season 3. This surround sound event will feature songs from Elton John’s Madman Across the Water, Eltons 4th of 31 albums, and Captain Fantastic, his 9th album. Captain Fantastic is an autobiographical album telling the story of how Bernie Taupin met and strived for success in the late 60s. It made history as the first album ever to debut at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart and stayed there for seven weeks — featuring "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" and the iconic Alan Aldridge artwork. Elton says it’s one of the albums he is most proud of. Paul Buckmaster wrote the orchestral arrangements and ultimately, Buckmaster collaborated on eight Elton John studio albums and conducted 52 songs. Presented by Award-Winning Surround Sound composer/producer Koz Mraz (Discus Award, 5.1 Category 2001, Communicator Surround Award 2002, Aurora Surround Award & Surround Grammy nominee 2005). A College Professor at Citrus College, Glendale, and Pasadena College, Mraz taught classes in music production, audio engineering, and broadcast technology for over 15 years. He offers educational presentations via the Fair Use Doctrine of the U.S. Copyright Statute. Under the fair use doctrine of the U.S. copyright statute, it is permissible to use portions of a copywritten work for purposes such as commentary, criticism, and education. Seating is limited.
