Regional Coordination

Continue to expand participation in the Verde Front Collaborative deepening connections with land management organizations and other communities.

FY21 & FY20:   The Verde Front Leadership Council is working with the town of Camp Verde to sign on to the concept of a Verde Valley regional trial system to connect trails between Camp Verde, Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome and Sedona. The Camp Verde Council is expected to act early in the third quarter of 2021.

The concept will ultimately provide a Valley-wide connected trail system which will encourage crowd dispersion and give Verde Valley attractions more exposure. The City of Cottonwood has already agreed to participate.

The National Geographic and its partners continue working with local organizations, businesses and residents to map the best travel experiences, stories and sites within the Verde Valley. National Geographic oriented websites have seen 27,140 sessions to date (January 27, 2021) this fiscal year and 35,004 page views. Since the June 2015 launch, there have been 326,917 sessions and 477,332 page views.

The Verde Front is a broadly supported regional effort to ensure a collaborative approach to recreation and tourism coordination, planning and implementation across the Verde Valley. This cross-jurisdictional, multi-stakeholder effort is developing a long-term, comprehensive sustainable recreation approach linking Verde Valley communities including Camp Verde, Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome, Sedona and Yavapai County.

The Verde Front met to strategically plan in January 2020 and further define formation of a regional sustainable recreation plan and river and trails commission to ensure ongoing support and coordination. Representatives from the City of Sedona, the USFS and the SCC&TB participate in the group.
