Verde Canyon Railroad has front row seat to fantastic fall colors, fabulous Arizona beers and freaky Halloween frights! First on the agenda, Ales on Rails, beginning September 13th, an appreciation of amazing Arizona craft beers prior to savoring the most beautiful season and some of the most scenic splendor in Arizona.  Since 2003 one of Verde Canyon Railroad’s hallmark events, this seasonal celebration draws beer enthusiasts from across the globe to sample a true taste of Arizona.  A wild variety of specially curated craft beers ranging from the hoppiest IPAs to the chocolatiest stouts and everything in between will be on draft and available to sample at the Verde Canyon Railroad depot patio, 11am-12:45pm, September 13th through October 31st.  Ales on Rails packages include pre-purchased beer tasting tickets, lunch and souvenir pint glass, as well as a magnificent afternoon train ride, making it easy for passengers to simply show up and start their sampling, prior to hopping aboard Arizona's Longest-Running Nature Show.

New for 2022 is Verde Canyon Railroad’s Fright Night, a stationary haunted train.  Parked on a long-forgotten and probably haunted sidetrack below the depot, three ghoulishly furnished vintage rail cars will be open to explore on select evenings throughout October to those daring enough to enter! “If you get hungry, we can get you a bite to eat at our Killer Café,” chuckled Vice President of Marketing Teresa Propeck. “We hope you’re not a vegetarian.”  Fright Night is bound to inspire shrieks, shivers and even the occasional bit of comic relief.

As fall festivities at the depot slow, nature takes over the show, stoked to a brilliant golden glow when this rare riparian canyon wears its finest autumn foliage. From late October through the end of November, this most-beautiful season is seen from the unique vantage point of a classic rail car featuring living-room style seating, sumptuous appetizers and beverages, and access to adjoining open-air viewing cars. Since 1990, Verde Canyon Railroad has taken nearly three million guests deep into an incredibly scenic Sedona-area canyon only accessible via this historic rail line, all without leaving a trace.

These one-of-a-kind events will sell out fast, so visitors are encouraged to make reservations early.  Only a stone’s throw from the hillside mining town of Jerome, Verde Canyon Railroad’s Clarkdale depot is in the heart of the Verde Valley, a diverse crossroads featuring amazing adventures in every direction. Only two hours from Phoenix and 25 minutes from Sedona, Verde Canyon Railroad is the perfect experience.
